Avon Lake's "The 45's" Historic Cottage District

City leaders in Avon Lake, Ohio have approved the creation of what could be Ohio's first "Cottage District". Well known in Lorain County, the "45's" area is made up primarily of quaint cottages (approx. 600) remaining from Avon Lake's history as a summer vacation area for Clevelanders. Stop 45 was the trolley stop for the neighborhood.

By zoning the neighborhood as a "Cottage Residence District" the residents will preserve the charming feel of the neighborhood. Mature trees and quaint gardens create a feeling of neighborhood remenicent of a past era. Cottages will not be permitted to exceed 26 ft. in height.

"The 45's" is located east of Lear Rd. and south of Lake Rd.

This is an excellent example of neighborhood residents who love their neighborhood taking steps to preserve it's unique character.
